Pour ceux que cela intéresse, voici ce qui était indiqué dans l'installeur de la version "preview" de IP Over firewire :
QUOTE Apple IP Over FireWire Preview Release
This IP Over FireWire Preview Release adds support for using the Internet Protocol?commonly known as TCP/IP?over FireWire. With this software installed, Macintosh computers and other devices can use existing IP protocols and service?including AFP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, and so on?over FireWire. The preview release adds a new kernel extension that hooks into the existing network services architecture. Using the existing Network preferences pane, users can add FireWire as an IP network to connect and communicate between two computers. Important Information This software is beta software. You should back up important data before you install and use this software. You should not use this on mission critical machines. No telephone support from Apple is available for this product. This document provides information on how to: ? install and configure IP over FireWire ? exchange files between two Macs over FireWire ? connect to the Internet using Internet Sharing over FireWire Installation and Configuration System Requirements: - Mac OS X 10.2.2 or later - Mac with built-in FireWire Installation: 1. On two Mac OS X computers, double-click the file ? IPoverFireWire.pkg.? 2. Install the IP Over FireWire Preview Release software. 3. Restart the computers. Note: If you use the Locations feature in the Network Preferences panel, FireWire will be added as an interface in the currently active Location. FireWire will also be available in all other Locations, but it will appear with a name such as "Ethernet Adaptor (en2)". You can rename it to FireWire by double-clicking on it. Configuration: 1. Open System Preferences and click Network. 2. If you see a message about a new Network Device, click OK. 3. Choose Network Port Configurations from the Show: pop-up menu. 4. Confirm that the new interface listed is FireWire. If it has another name, such as "Ethernet Adaptor (en2)," rename it to "FireWire." 5. Drag FireWire to the top of the list of network interfaces and click Apply Now. Troubleshooting: You can disable other ports by deselecting them in the Network Port Configurations pane of Network preferences, but do not do this when your computer is bound to NFS Servers. Exchanging Files Between Two Macs 1. Connect two Macs with a single FireWire cable, or with two cables and a FireWire hub. 2. In the Finder, choose Go > Connect to Server. 3. In the dialog that appears, select your second Mac and log in to it. 4. Drag files to and from either computer. Troubleshooting: Make sure that FireWire is the top, selected port in the Network Port Configurations pane of Network preferences. Make sure that Personal File Sharing is turned on in the Sharing pane of System Preferences. Connecting to the Internet Using Internet Sharing 1. Connect two Macs with a single FireWire cable, or with two cables and a FireWire hub. 2. On the first Mac (Mac A), open Network preferences and do the following: a. Make sure that Ethernet is the first selected port and has a valid IP address from your ISP/LAN. b. Manually assign FireWire Network Port to use 192.168.2.1 as the IP address. 3. On the first Mac, open Sharing preferences and do the following: a. Click the Internet tab. b. Click Start. c. If necessary, deselect the ?Share the connection with other computers on Built-in Ethernet? (or Airport) checkbox. Note: Internet Sharing must be restarted after each reboot. 4. On the second Mac (Mac a. Manually assign the IP address to 192.168.2.101. b. Assign the router address to 192.168.2.1 (to match the IP address of the first Mac). c. DNS Information should match between Ethernet (Mac A) and FireWire (Mac 5. Open an application that uses TCP/IP (for example, a web browser or email application). Troubleshooting: On the first Mac (Mac A), make sure that Ethernet is the first and FireWire is the second listed port in the Network Port Configurations pane of Network preferences. Known Issues PPPoE and AppleTalk are not supported (even though their tabs appear in Network preferences). Cela donne la marche à suivre, le fait qu'Appletalk n'était pas supporté (c'est peut-être plus le cas pour la nouvelle version), explique comment partager une connexion internet, etc.... J'espère que cela éclaire un peu les lanternes. -------------------- iMac 24" 2.4" 2/320 , Leopard, Macbook 2.2Mhz/2/80, iPod 60Go, iPhone 1.1.1 TS, Netopia VDSL, Canon MP150, Borne Airport Extreme N, MacMini (intel)
