Bonjour,

Pour ceux comme moi qui ont chercher la méthode pour la flasher une carte Ati x1900xt, je colle ce que j'ai trouver sur le site Ten Thousand Percent. C'est en anglais (mon niveau ne me permet pas de traduction, SI quelque se sent de faire un tutoriale avec ces données en français... (le rêve)) :

This procedure is designed for people using a Mac Pro who own a PC X1900 XT 512MB PCIe card and want it to work while booted into Mac OS X as well as Windows, just like the X1900 Apple sells.

Please note that this procedure creates a card specifically compatible with the Mac Pro, not any PPC models such as the Powermac G5.

Do not attempt this procedure except with the EXACT card mentioned above, it will not work! It must be the X1900 XT 512MB PCIe. It cannot be Crossfire edition, XTX, 256MB, or any other configuration than the one mentioned.

DISCLAIMER:

Flashing, when done incorrectly, may cause irreversible damage to your video card. As such, do not attempt if you don't feel comfortable with this.

The procedure described in this article may only be performed AT YOUR OWN RISK. At no time am I or this website to be held liable for any of your actions. If you do not agree to these terms, please find another site to get your information from or do not proceed.

Tools & Files

Download the following Files:
• Boot CD Image [ M ]
• ATI Flash 315 [ M ]
• Mac X1900 XT 512MB ROM [ M ]

You also need a USB thumb (jump) drive plugged into a USB port (the top USB port on the front seems to work). Keep this there at all times.

Also, make sure you have the appropriate power cable for your X1900. It takes a 6-pin PCIe cable. It's recommended you use the official Apple part, available here and here.

You will also need one blank CD-R.

Procedure

1. Burn the boot disk ISO to a CD. Do this by opening the terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and typing the following followed by a space:

hdiutil burn

Drag the .ISO file directly into the terminal window to throw in the path to the file. It should look something like this:

hdiutil burn /Users/whodat/Desktop/WinMe.iso

After burning is complete, leave the newly-burned CD in the drive.

2. Unzip the ATIFlash program and place it on your USB jump drive. Rename the folder simply "ati"

3. Unzip the 'Mac X1900 XT 512MB ROM'. It should be named "mybios.rom", otherwise, rename it as such. Drag this file to the so-called 'ati' folder mentioned in step 2.

4. Go into your System Preferences and select "Startup Disk." Select your boot CD your created in step 1.

5. Shut down your computer.

6. THIS STEP REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO DEAL WITH INTERNAL COMPUTER COMPONENTS. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, STOP AND FIND OUT HOW BEFORE PROCEEDING:
Remove any existing video cards from your computer and place the X1900 in slot 1 (the bottom).

7. Start up your computer. Your screen will remain black for a while, don't worry about it.

8. A text-based boot menu should appear. Select the bottom item to get to a 'DOS Prompt'.

9. If the prompt does not say C:\>, change it to C:
[ c: ]

10. Go to the ATI folder in your USB jump drive:
[ cd ati ]

11. Make a backup of your old bios (in case you change your mind later):
[ ATIflash -s 0 oldbios.rom ]
*Optional but recommended: type 'dir' followed by the enter key to make sure that oldbios.rom exists, if not, figure out what's going on or ask somebody before proceeding.

12. Finally, flash your card:
[ atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 mybios.rom ]
* Please Wait until your prompt returns to C:\ATI\>. Your screen may flicker during the flashing process. This is normal.

To shut down from DOS, just hit the power button. Hold down the 'option' (ALT) key while booting to select your normal Mac boot drive.

UPDATE December 25, 2006:

Please note that the TV-out on your card (if you have it) will not work. My card came with the RGB plug adapter and the S/RCA single adapter. Neither were detected by OSX or Windows. Likely, the ROM does not have that feature because the Apple X1900's do not.

Pour ceux qui comme moi ont les pires difficultés à faire reconnaître une clé USB qui contienne le dossier ATI, il existe une solution d'une facilité déconcertante :

UTILISEZ la partition BootCamp si vous en avez une !!!

Copiez le dossier ATI dessus, démarrez sur le CD Boot WindowsMe, et votre lecteur C:, c'est la partition BootCamp.

Flashez comme indiqué dans le tuto et à vous les joies d'une ATI X1900XT !!!!

Est-ce que quelqu'un sait où trouver un cable d'alimentation PCI express 6 points en France (ou en europe)? J'ai une belle Ati x1900 xt en attente de flashage...

[edit] J'en profite pour répondre à la question précédente (même s'il a dû avoir sa réponse, depuis le temps!): Non, ça ne marche pas avec toutes les Radeon x1900 xt. Il faut une carte avec 512 Mo de mémoire, et qui ne soit pas Crossfire ready. Cependant il y a eu deux type de carte PC crossfire et celles qui ont deux connecteurs DVI (et non un connecteur DVI et un Crossfire) ont l'air de fonctionner.
